Spooky Jinns in Thailand

On Instagram there's a video of a dude camping up in a treehouse, and he hears something wandering around at the bottom of the tree, crying and then laughing. The video is pretty creepy, especially as in thailand and that area of the world there are these spooky tails of spirits which are ghosts searching the jungle floors at night for people to host. Now the video starts with him asleep, so straight away super red flag, whos filming themselves asleep.. total battery drainer, so it's obviously not a real event, and of course not a spirit, but it's creepy, and it does remind me of a really weird story from Vietnam about a spirit.

I once read a story from the Vietnam war, where some soldiers were based in a tree house, and during the night an old man burst in and tried to kill the soldiers, they struggled with him, and it took 2 soldiers to over power him as he was so strong, one soldier managed to grab a gun and fired a shot into this old mans side. The Old man screamed at the soldiers, jumped out of the tree house (so super high up) and ran into the jungle. The soldiers the next day went out on a parole, and came across an old, frail man, in a village with a gun shot wound to his side, incredibly frail, and the locals said he was unable to walk far. The theory, that this was a spirit that took the body and went on a night rampage.

Has anyone read that story? or heard it on a creepy podcast? I can't be the only one, and I deff have not made this up (someone else probs has), but a really good story.
